CHANDRA JOHNSON & BARRIE BENSON

Chandra Johnson is a gallery owner, collector, and philanthropist, based in Charlotte, NC. She is the owner of SOCO Gallery, a contemporary art space on Providence Road that produces six exhibitions annually, and a program that features top regional and international artists. SOCO Shop, located in the gallery, offers a unique and affordable range of art and lifestyle books, limited editions and artist designed objects.

Barrie Benson is an interior designer best known for balancing the modern with the traditional in her signature interiors. She transforms residences like her iconic 1950s ranch with traditional pieces to create an interesting blend of periods, rooms, and moods. Barrie is also known for giving architecturally traditional homes a dash of energy and color with her fresh take on European and American 20th-century furniture, art, and collections. In addition to interiors, Barrie designs a signature line of furniture for Highland House and a line of decorative hardware and accessories in collaboration with Addison Weeks.

Longtime friends and patrons of the arts, Chandra and Barrie recognized a unique opportunity to support artists and their future works by diversifying their media and expanding into interiors and products. In 2018, they founded Peg Norriss to help drive their mission to support artists creatively and financially by producing capsule collections through exclusive artist collaborations for those who appreciate art and design. We are pleased to offer the collections exclusively through Schumacher.
